Boiler Technology

As specialists in boiler technology, we design, develop and manufacture individually customised boilers and complete systems with an emphasis on particularly efficient combined heat and power plants. We not only make the boiler itself, but design complete optimised plants tailored to the specific requirements of our customers. Our in-house production has all necessary permits, modern machinery and tried and tested quality assurance. The design and engineering department uses the usual IT tools and CAD systems, including computer applications developed in-house.

We install boiler systems with individual parameters and capacities according to particular requirements. We have already successfully constructed and delivered many different single or two drum wtaer tube boilers, smoke tube boilers, waste heat and hot water boilers. Our team of specialists will assist you in the choice of the best plant and boiler system. The optimal thermodynamics and combustion chamber geometry is developed in detail for each boiler plant individually.

 

 

Single Drum

Single drum – Water tube boiler

The use of a water tube boiler type starts where conventional fire tube / smoke tube boiler designs can not be used due to the specified steam parameter and boiler loads. Furthermore with this boiler layout various configurations, combustion chamber designs and general arrangements are possible.
If a cleaning of the heating surfaces is needed - due to the use of corresponding fuels - this can be implemented and then operated also during boiler operation.

Two Drum

The two drum boiler design is a well proven construction especially for industrial use as directly fired units or in waste heat application. The boiler body is a self carrying construction with exhaust gas tight membrane walls. The single heating surface sections and the combustion chamber can be reached easily via side openings for inspection purposes.

For small and medium pressure ranges the use of smoke tube boiler designs is very common. The special adaptation for individual requirements can include:

  • Cooled or dry combustion chamber and optimised furnace conditions
  • Combination with superheaters, economisers and additional heating surfaces possible
  • Direct fired units but also in combined heat and power operation, such as waste heat recovery from gas turbines
  • Big water content offering short term reaction on steam supply in case of pressure drop

Typical applications

  • Downstream gas turbines 1 – 10 MWel
  • Steam outputs 3 – 50 t/h
  • Operating pressures up to 40 bar

The effective use of waste heat is one of our core competences. The most suitable boiler design (as water tube or smoke tube boiler) will be chosen and optimised, depending on the waste heat parameters, the exhaust gas composition and other boundary conditions, such as dust loading for example.

Heat recovery boilers are projected and delivered mainly for the following waste heat sources:

  • Small and medium sized gas turbines
  • Reciprocating engines, especially gas motors
  • Thermal treatment plants
  • Waste heat from different kind of processes

For big heat loads and high hot water parameter our hot water boilers in water tube design with forced circulation have shown a proven and reliable operation and are therefore a preferred alternative. This plants show up with high boiler efficiency, a sturdy durable construction and flexible operation possibilities. Additionally it is possible to adjust the plant individually to restricted site conditions such as existing buildings.

Hot water production is also possible for different waste heat applications or as additional heating surfaces downstream of steam generators.

Typical load ranges

  • 30 to 120 MW Hot water heat load
  • Temperature ranges 70 to 250 °C
  • Pressures up to 40 bar

We are developing and sucessfully executing solid fuel power plants already for several years to meet increasing requirements for economical use of resources and environmental protection. This includes grate firing devices and the boiler plants itself as our own products. Complete energy plants can be delivered for various types of biomasses, particularly untreated wood or wood wastes, as well as industrial and production residues.

 

The corresponding boiler plants are mainly multi pass water tube boiler designs with natural water circulation that are individually designed for the specified fuels, the steam parameters and other special conditions.
